To Catch a Dream

DSCF1731

Let something catch your attention.
It has already taken you out of
the stronghold of your tenacious mind.
Give it its due. Look from all angles.
Try to find out what has arrested you:
Colours, shapes, textures, surprises
That give rise to an array of feelings.
It did not scream out to your senses
Because of what it, in essence, is,
But because of who you, uniquely, are.
Let it be your starting point, your guide,
As you go inward, as a scientist would,
To observe the foundations of your self.
What makes you sing? Cry? Laugh? Hope?
What brought you here? Who is the dreamer?
What is the dream? Where will it take you?
How have you been hurt on the path of life,
And who have you hurt, what are your regrets?
Excavate the marrow, the heart, the blood
That connects you to your ancestral tribe,
The womb of your mother, the great deep blue,
Find the dance that spans generations
And culminates in your life’s expression,
Free, always free, you must fight for this,
For the truth in the discoveries you have made.
Now, with this great determination of truth,
This intimate encounter with your lovely self,
Turn back to the world. You are ready to see.
It is ready is ready to be seen. Magic begins.

Heed the Call

DSCF1936

The direction is not always clear,
obscured as it can remain from us,
as long as we march ahead, thick as fire,
on the same path that brought us here.
Here, with confusions, mumblings why,
various shades of unease, their shadows.
How much do we end up leaving behind
in our seething convictions of where
we must go? How much of the unseen
remains just outside the realm of our
possibilities? Let us fight for our choices,
Dare to expand the view, heeding the call
of the inner voice that tells us, there is
a symphony of voices needing to be heard,
for our very lives, for my need to hear you,
for you to hear me. To honour both. To
cherish all. To find our mothers and fathers,
brothers and sisters, in every single thing
that breathes, as they step into the seen,
and we find each other, and we take
the steps that feed our very creation.

From My Heart to Yours

It’s been quite a journey – emotional, topsy turvy, wonderful – releasing my little book of poems into the world! I wrote these poems over the period of about a year, coinciding with the time my husband and I decided to begin our slow migration from Japan back to my home country of Canada. The poems, in a way, became my diary, or journal, a safe space for me to process the experience of such a huge transition, and as such, they are so much a part of who I am and have become over the process of traveling these past few years.

At the same time, they really point to where I look for my healing and balm in the world – which is to say, the beautiful, perfect natural world around us. I think everyone will be able to find a little bit of themselves in this collection, which celebrates nature while finding a way toward honouring the self as part of this magically wondrous life.

I was incredibly shocked and touched to find that LAND reached #3 in Amazon in two categories: Nature Poems, and Women Author Poems. I’m thrilled for any chance to share my experience of the world through words, and thank you for all your support of my work through this blog over the years!

Please find the book here, and I’d love to hear from you!
