Cosmology of a Dream

Cosmology of a Dream

And we woke,
to find we were still dreaming,
and it took time
but now we knew

How vast the empire
populated by warring thoughts
defending against tides of change,
resisting truth to the death

But truth, like light
does not disappear
or surrender
the way we, so tired, can

And when we let truth
slip in to plant its seeds
the dream itself will start to smile
the sweet smile of the free.

Seeking Truth

DSCF2370

We say we need rest,
but refuse to slow down.
We say we want peace,
but refuse to stop blaming.
We say we want happiness,
but refuse to seek its causes.
We say love is the answer,
but refuse to believe in love.
We say we want connection,
but refuse to reach out.
We say we reject violence,
but refuse the way to harmony.
We say we care for the earth,
but refuse to listen to her cry.
We say that all lives matter,
but refuse to respect life.
But something else is true:
We mean what we say.
We want for things to be good,
and to know what good is.
This is our foundation;
This is our imperfect beauty;
This is our sacred humanity.
May we honour the truth
in what we say and believe,
and seek their realization.

Be Compassion Be Love

DSCF9953

There’s everything to be said
For the way we try, so hard

To be a part of the world,
Truly and fully where we are,

Even when we don’t understand,
Even when there is little left

That holds it all together,
Or of our own sensibilities.

It shatters. We try; we attend
To the wild perceptions shifting,

Clinging like desperate savages
To the remains of our Truths,

Afraid to distill the gold
From the piles of our history.

We look for pockets of seamless
instances of harmony, like miracles,

The reminders that we walk
Walk this Earth in unison,

That we all, at the very bottom,
Would love for the same thing:

To be at peace, to connect,
To belong and find our purpose,

And it always comes to this:
Even when it hurts,

Even when it might all be lost,
Be compassion, be love.

Forgetting and Finding

DSCF3343

I might at times
dwell in the land
of forgetting

The moss growing
under rock,
the wind telling stories

The grass keeping
my feet warm, the
quilt of sky too

This is when the
inky specter of
thought takes over

Forging a world that
veils the true colour
and sound of things

And takes me along
a route that my
heart cannot follow

Until I hear the bellowing
cry and become aware
of all I have forgotten

And now my heart has
found her audience,
and she will not let go

And nor do I want her to,
she, so fierce, beautiful
and wise, when broken too

She opens the most
ornate gates on all the vistas,
she lights the brightest stars

And it feels we, us and
world, have always been
waiting for this this moment

Waiting, with perfect patience,
and this, I have come to see,
is the love that saves us. – TS

The Moon Tree

dscf7734

There is a tree in the world
that brings the moon home
so we can sit that much closer
and peer into the nature of our passing
through the grand scope of eternity.
Imagine those who climb the tree,
tasked with removing the obstacles
to our vision and experience of
infinity, loops, and circularity,
with each clip taking us closer
to the grand narrative of
our origin and our trajectory,
so conjoined with the mission
to offer truth and contemplation
that, even from a place so near,
the view comes into being,
the shape of life emerges
so that we may all come to see. – TS
