The Eye of Love

DSCF3343

The eye of Love
sees from all places
across all spans of Time,
takes us everywhere
we have always
needed to go,
helps us with the task
of remembering who
we have always been.
The eye of Love
does not ask or demand
or make judgments,
but sees us
in all of our potential,
and knows we are
striving for me.
The eye of Love
belongs to all of us,
and comes from
the space where
all that is without
and all that is within meet,
our sacred source
of all that is.
Let us meet at
the eye of Love,
and begin again,
and then begin again.

Through the Veil

DSCF5134

Through the veil that we have coloured
with the woven tapestry of our stories,
those that illuminate and those that fail us,
we peer out, as much as the veil allows,
and on the one side is a honed isolation,
billowing around us like a comfortable pillow
that can also, on another day, suffocate us,
and on the other, imaginings of belonging,
soft and sweet and frightening and pure:
what that would look, smell and feel like,
what the sinewy textures of our grounding
would be in the lands that cushion our birth.
We birth: again, and again, we are borne
of a thousand suns and the lives they touch,
of endless moons caressing our shadows
with a hope that cuts right through to bone.
We can crest the mountains, soar like falcons,
or we can sit on grass, watch tiny buds grow,
and no victory is small, that shatters the veil,
and brings me to myself, and all of me to you.

I Bow to You

DSCF0274

I gather false strength
and stand upright,
me versus the world.
I throw my shoulders back,
throw my gaze long,
discerning and proud,
as though surveying
something that belongs to me,
and not to you,
or to you, and not to me,
and this is where desire dwells,
and a terrible need grows,
and I am in my perch,
and you are in yours,
and no proximity
can bring us together.

I bend down,
close my eyes, and bow,
and immediately,
the separation has disappeared.
We are not yet one,
this might be the work
of a lifetime.
But we are so much closer,
I feel so much closer here,
where I can smell
the earth below, that tethers us
to the same source,
where I can kiss your feet
in acknowledgement
of my devotion to you,
who have so much to teach me.

Love Stories Everywhere

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There are love stories everywhere,
in the butterflies of first caresses,
in the clouds shaped like hearts.
Love can be found in the flowers
opening each morning to feed the bees,
in a mother’s warm, soothing embrace.
There is love in interlocking treetops,
in their roots intertwined underground
to help each other, and feed the world.
Love builds a mama bird’s nest
for her babies’ fledgling first days,
and makes a rainbow from rain.
Love arches the sun up toward the moon,
and the moon across the breadth of sky,
and love makes all the oceans swell.
Love lets us forgive our gravest mistakes,
and come to believe in new beginnings,
And love lets me reach deep inside,
where I sometimes forget love resides,
and turn all of the darkest places to light,
until I know: love stays, love abides.

Love Won

DSCF1130

Every time.

Love won.

Love won,

because love knows

There is no battle,

No conflict or war,

No me or you.

Love won

Because it knows

That it is always

For us,

With us,

And inside of us,

And could never

Be apart

From us.

Love won,

Because we let it.

Because

No matter how much

We suffer,

And forget love

And feel love

Has abandoned us,

We know.

We know

Deep in our blood

And bones

That there is

No love without us,

And no us

Without love.

Love won

Our victory for us,

And our only work

Is to remember,

With and in

Our love.

I Want For Us

DSCF5237

I want to bring myself to you

The way the dipping sun

Melds into the horizon,

The way the great rocks

Sink into our precious earth,

The way a river seamlessly

Becomes her ocean and sea.

I want to know no inhibition,

But stand naked before you,

All that I am and have been

Written in a beautiful language

That has never yet been seen,

But which you, you can read.

I want you to take the totality of me,

And leave nothing at all behind,

And offer me the same of you.

I want for us both to devour

What is succulent in our grasp

And for us to love every part

We fear the most, trembling,

Now unsure, because these, too,

Are part of our invitation to love.

I want for us to walk our fears

Up the great and holy mountain,

On a trail we are carving ourselves

With our worn and journeyed feet,

And stand where no flag has been,

And fill our lungs with sweet air,

And shout as loud as we can

Not for salvation, not for each other,

But because we are standing

With our mothers, our fathers,

All of our ancestors, who live

Here, in this mountain we’ve found,

So we could be closer to the sky,

Without ever leaving our time

To be alive, to become less afraid,

To live in each moment of love.

My Offering To You

dscf1208

For you, who are
an extension of me,
an offering of all
I’ve ever had to give,
though it only appears
to me now, a sun
blooming over the mountain
on a full moon dawn
like the warrior
of life and of light
that has been waiting
for me to turn toward it
every morning of my life.
I am here.
I stand before the mountain,
in awe of her perseverance,
patience, mammoth strength,
and the sun that emerges
to the sound of birds chirping
and distant cars rumbling
fills the other half
of the world.
Sun and mountain fill the frame,
one stately shape making room
for pure awe of the space
that surrounds it, pink,
pure and new,
and this is what I offer you,
my full, hopeful presence
that will never take away
from the vastness of yours.
