The Healing Body

DSCF2043

Follow the story

My body is telling me

About my heart

And my oldest

Sources of pain

All the way from

Each jagged breath

To the crevices

Between each bone,

To find out the secrets

I still harbor, from me,

From you, from a world

That knows how

To take everything

I need to release,

Because it knows,

Where I do not,

That we are wedded,

That in all sorrow

Lies the doorway

To soft healing.

It is hard, now,

Not to see the wind

As arriving just for us,

So that we can whisper

The unimaginable,

Through our tears,

For it to take away,

On the wings

Of birds, our messengers

Between the universe

In our bodies,

And that body

Of all that is.

It is time: to know

What does not need

To be contained,

What can go,

And how to move

This sacred vessel

Until what remains

Are the secrets

That have been waiting

For us to be ready,

We can serve the world.

Don’t Say My Name

DSCF1099

Don’t say my name,
see what else falls away,
which words drop off
the tongue in light
of this new consideration?

I think of the moon,
and the image changes,
the word alone
conjuring faraway
tapestries of night,

also forbidding, in their
very distance from
here. Why not place
faith, instead, in their
colourful inevitability,

should we do the work,
here and now, of filling
ourselves with the kind
of light that fills the
contours of tomorrow?

Why not remove the
name, the idea, as the
serpent sheds her skin,
the very sheath that
gave her a body, her

movement, knowing there
is more to come, knowing
that the movement itself,
which is life and love,
will take us there?

Song of Body and World

DSCF2143

There are
parts of us
so soft,
so sincere,
so true,
an ache
that comes
and goes
in the night,
an ocean
a lifetime
a legend
for the ages
in the flutter
of a single
heartbeat,
the secrets
carried
on the wings
of our cells
as they
work to
generate
the matter
of our
humble
and glorious
existence.
Listen for
the whisper
carried
in the blood,
lingering
on the skin,
preparing
itself
to come
through us
in song.
This is
the song
of our
one world
and our
one place
in it. – TS

We Are The Lucky Ones

dscf2810

How lucky we are
that there is only forward,
a momentum, a development,
evolution.
How wise we will be
when we stop thinking
in circles, turning back
succumbing to remorse.
It is always a new day ahead,
the sun, ancient, our eternal,
is always rising new, the moon,
soaring through skies,
As we soar toward
the future that awaits us,
and this is always progress
and we are always moving
And our movements
will always take us there,
and we are always arriving.
We are always on the way. – TS
