Balm of Night

In the space of night

in the disappearance of earthly delight,

what magic alights

what joy brims bright,

bearing witness as Mother might

to our curious rites,

our sad and longing,

our trembling and holy plights.

What salve the night,

what balm the inner light. – TS xo

My Questions To You

What is your saving grace?
What pushes you to the darkest
places on a night of no stars, full,
instead, of the thicket of feverish dreams?
What grand and majestic hope has stayed
with you since you were a tiny little child?
What did you want to be when you
grew up, and is this still your fantasy?
I am your ear, your hand, your heart.
We can hide in the dark together, and
when we’re ready to emerge, we can
run and laugh catch the sun and sand
and build castles of what’s never been lost.
I implore: can we share the happy and sad,
our hesitant and bolder steps in this world,
all our inner magic, before it’s too late? – TS

Sometimes I Wish. {Poem}

This poem was inspired by the many hopes and wishes I was so lucky to hear and have written to me over New Year’s. They really struck a deep chord within me.

sometimes i wish

sometimes i wish i
could gather everyone’s wishes
that whisper soft and deep into the wind
and put them all in
a giant glass bottle, and roll
the bottle out to sea
where the sun’s rays
would catch and beam them
out to the farthest reaches of the universe.

i wish i could take this love-tinted bottle
filled to the very brim with tender hearts
and fear-laced hope
and carry it up to the highest peaks,
where fear can’t breathe
and where the bottle could tip over
sending all the wishes of the world
tumbling down to roam our earth
and tickle the world whole.
