The Mountain Dreamer

DSCF4107

The Mountain Dreamer

The mountain dreamer
trembles in awe
at the majesty
laid out before her
in two dimensions
on a misty morning,
the gradations
of grey and pink,
the cloudless milky sky
keeping her tethered,
still, to the sticky and
tentacled dream world
she is not quite ready
to leave behind.
She, too, casts no shadow,
her feet rest
on dewy ground,
a cow grazes nearby.
As she watches,
the mountain emerges
from the haze,
her shape etches
bold and clear against
the sky of new day.
The mountain dreamer,
still caught between
the parts of yesterday
that cling to her bones,
and the many forked trails
of her tomorrows,
lifts her gaze to the
great heights before her,
contemplating the mountain,
risen from tumult
to tower over the ground,
under the unimaginable
depths of sky,
on top of the world,
but still at the very beginning
of it all.

What Kind of Day Will You Have?

DSCF8914

Where will you go today?
Are you excited
thinking about it?
Sometimes I, too,
wake up to
such a sun and sky
that I’m sure the feelings
can no longer be contained
in this one body
on this one day.
May your day be
precious and exciting
and give you great joy.
May it fulfill a lifelong dream,
and be full of surprises.
May you be open to
surprises just like these.
And if, in the event
that such a place is
more than a little scary –
sometimes I, too,
wake up to such fear
that the world contracts
and barrels toward me
and I can’t find my
way back into it –
May you be open
to exploring your fear,
and may you have
the love and support
that can carry you through
this journey with ease.
May we all live, breathe,
dream and create peace,
and the magical world
we want to live it. – TS

My Questions To You

dscf3869

What is your saving grace?
What pushes you to the darkest
places on a night of no stars, full,
instead, of the thicket of feverish dreams?
What grand and majestic hope has stayed
with you since you were a tiny little child?
What did you want to be when you
grew up, and is this still your fantasy?

I am your ear, your hand, your heart.
We can hide in the dark together, and
when we’re ready to emerge, we can
run and laugh catch the sun and sand
and build castles of what’s never been lost.
I implore: can we share the happy and sad,
our hesitant and bolder steps in this world,
all our inner magic, before it’s too late? – TS
