The Future of Love

dscf5642

It’s hard to remember, sometimes,
how much of us we have carved
into the world, how much remains,
you can see it in monuments we
make in the name of devotion, and
also in tears caked into the spaces
between walls made of large stone,
in the breath we set sail as it blows
dandelion fluff across green fields
and smiles we pour on our children
as we look at their bright drawings.
It’s there in every touch of the hand,
every squeeze and embrace when
we need it more than anything else,
and know that others need the same.
Every hope, wish and prayer made
with the intention to heal what hurts
in us all is the art we have left behind,
the creation of the future of love. – TS
