A Song for Winter Solstice

On the year’s shortest day,
A pause in thanks for the
sunlight streaming through
the window, glinting off
a many-sided prism to make
rainbows all over the room.
I bow before you, the sun,
who gives us our breath
and our light, and also
honour the shadows
you cast in sharp relief,
so that I may find my
spaces of darkness,
and show them the way
to you, the light, again. – TS
